The Educational Opportunities Act, passed by the Iowa Legislature in June 2006, provides an opportunity for taxpayers to give the gift of school choice through a School Tuition Organization (STO). An STO is a charitable organization created to receive contributions from Iowa taxpayers and make grants to eligible families whose children attend accredited nonpublic schools represented by that STO.
The STO of Southeast Iowa is a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Iowa. The School Tuition Organization of Southeast Iowa serves nine school systems within the Davenport Diocese, representing more than 2,200 students in grades K-12.
The board for the STO of Southeast Iowa is comprised of representatives of Catholic schools and districts within the Diocese of Davenport (except those within Scott County).
