A note of gratitude received by the STO of Southeast Iowa Board from a thankful STO recipient parent.
"I received my award letter regarding my 8th grade son's STO grant. I wanted to thank you, and all that assisted with this program for your help and dedication in providing financial assistance to low income Catholic families.
I am a single mother of a 13 year old son, who has received very limited child support over the years. After working as a Head Start teacher for several years, this summer I started graduate school in an Advanced Standing Social Work program, involving intensive study and a 500 hour practicum. Receiving this grant relieves the burden of tuition and allows me to be more available to my son after school.
Our Catholic school is not just a school for us, but is family, and completes ours. Beyond academics and the school walls, my son has enriched his spiritual development, self-concept, and character through extracurricular activities, Boy Scouts, sports and parish life. My son talks about wanting to be a Knight of Columbus when he turns 18, and being a "Big Brother."
Thank you for helping in providing a glimpse of hope and a quality Catholic education for my son. Please share my gratitude and thanks."
